As I worked to embed the final changes to my individual assignment this weekend I couldn't help but take a long view to see how far we have all come. I know that I've arrived at a place where I can better appreciate just how difficult it can be to create a website that finds that rare balance between design and content. It's just not as simple as sacrificing one for the other. It's actually a matter of satisfying both, especially if we want to attract as well as inform. Of course within that context I've also come to feel more comfortable with the dynamics of writing code and manipulating it for my own purposes. I arrived at Clio II with an appreciation for the power of new media, having employed in while teaching, but I know that I will be finishing the semester with a deeper impression of how important it can be for communicating ideas that are on the 'endangered list' because scholars are too lazy, too egotistical, or too afraid to employ new methods to reach out to the public and to students. My thoughts on the use and integration of colors are now revised, although I remain troubled because machines are as different as eyes, and each can project a color that is not true and doesn't render closely to the creative impression in my mind's eye. I also finish the semester with a renewed respect for my colleagues who have some pretty darn good ideas and were always gracious enough to share their thoughts, suggestions, and time to assist others. Most of all I know that my digital journey will not end here because I have realized the awesome potential of new media, and I look forward to pressing the 'To Next Page' button to see where it will bring me. Good luck to all!
